GRETCHEN KRAIG TURNER

“My approach as a childbirth educator and doula is to provide holistic pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support. I work with my clients to have meaningful, satisfying birth experiences by providing tools for new parents to explore birth in a safe, nurturing environment.”

Gretchen works as a birth and post-partum doula and as a childbirth educator. She has a wide variety of doula experience, including natural birth, epidural and other pain medicated birth, Caesarean birth, inductions, VBACs, and multiples. Gretchen works with women to build confidence in themselves, their bodies, and their partners. Through doula work and childbirth classes, Gretchen offers personal and supportive care that allows for women and their partners to find their own unique journey to parenthood.

Gretchen received her doula training at the Seattle Midwifery School and her advanced doula training with Mother Tree. She is also a Birthing From Within mentor. Gretchen has a Bachelors of Science degree in Zoology from the University of Washington, and is also working on a Masters Degree in Science Teaching at Portland State University. She is First Aid and CPR certified for infants and adults.

In addition to her birth work, Gretchen has 14 years of nanny experience spanning infant to teenager years and has managed a Seattle-based baby store.

Gretchen is a BIRTHING FROM WITHIN® mentor offering classes in NE and SE Portland.
